About the MIT AI Policy Congress

The MIT AI Policy Congress provides an opportunity for world-leading industry, academic, and policy experts to discuss the important questions artificial intelligence (AI) systems raise about safety, justice, welfare, and opportunity.

During first MIT AI Policy Congress, which was co-sponsored by the MIT Internet Policy Research Initiative (IPRI) and MIT Quest for Intelligence, participants explored how AI systems should be governed — and to what extent they are already conforming to society’s expectations of trust. A key direction involved investigating how society, industry, and governments should practically manage the policy questions raised by this new technology. Individual sessions defined AI’s specific impact in particular industries, connected AI to current key laws and regulations, and defined gaps and opportunities for addressing trust in the AI systems upon which societies depend.
